Virtual Ministerial Delegation - Finnish Impulses to an Economic Powerhouse in Transformation
Due to the global Covid-19 pandemic both German and Finnish economies are currently facing major challenges. The challenges have brought on a need for large structural renewals, which is in turn opening up opportunities for cooperation between Finnish and German companies, and in the trade between the two countries.
In order to give impulses from Finnish digital and sustainable solutions, as well as to foster the excellent business ties between Germany and Finland, Team Finland will organize a virtual Ministerial Delegation on 29th October to Germany. Mr. Mika Lintilä, Minister of Economic Affairs, Mr. Ville Skinnari, Minister for Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade, and the Finnish Ambassador in Berlin, Ms. Anne Sipiläinen, will lead the virtual visit. This event offers an inspiring plenary session, informative workshops and targeted 1:1 meetings, and brings together companies from both Finland and Germany. We welcome you to join our event!

BATTERIES FROM FINLAND
More than 80 per cent of the world’s batteries are currently manufactured in Asia. There is a tendency to develop the manufacturing of long-life, safer batteries also in Europe. Finland possesses solid expertise throughout the battery value chain: the mining industry, battery raw materials refinement, technologies and services relevant to battery production and use and the charging technology and recycling solutions. Finland is one of the few countries where all of the key minerals used in the production of lithium-ion batteries – cobalt, nickel, lithium and graphite – are found in the soil. Finland has everything needed for the creation of an important battery cluster that will help us to increase the value added in Finland.

Finland is currently the epicenter of the global growth for bioeconomy. The renewing industry cluster offers huge growth potential with projects worth close to four billion Euros. Recent major investments – both domestic and international – have paved the way for the growth of the industry. Finland has world-class know-how in developing innovative biobased products and technologies. The industrial exploitation of wood-based biomass is in transformation, creating compelling new business opportunities and possibilities. Wood is now used as a raw material for diverse value-added products and revolutionary biomaterial innovations.

Finland is pioneering the future of healthcare. The combination of population-based biobanks, innovation-friendly legislation, comprehensive healthcare registers, electronic medical records, and the nation's isolated gene pool represents true Real World Evidence.
